Tom Ince’s late goal condemned QPR to another defeat – their fourth in a row. Here’s how we rated the players in their 1-0 loss to Derby.
A virtual spectator for most of the match. Really had no chance for the goal.
Showed plenty of endeavour but was arguably at fault for the goal.
Got in lots of blocks and plenty of interceptions – a testimony to good positional sense from Rangers’ stalwart defender.
Mostly dependable alongside Onuoha until the late calamity when he failed to get across to cover Ince. Had marshalled the highly-experienced Darren Bent without alarms.
Did really well in minimising the threat posed by Ince down Rangers’ left flank. Curbed his instincts to get forward too often in a very disciplined showing.
His best moment was a lung-bursting charge from his own half which ended in the anti-climax of a linesman’s flag. Embodied the high-pressing ethos. Withdrawn to protect a tweaked hamstring late on.
Given a midfield detail rather than defensive one and sat deep for the most part. His role epitomised Holloway’s determination to pack the midfield and stifle the in-form visitors.
Often promised with his positive approach and always seemed involved in Rangers’ best moments, even if his final ball was missing. Made way for Ben Gladwin just past the hour.
At times glided along like a latter-day Ale Faurlin. Tidy on the ball, for the most part, yet not able to fashion any clear-cut openings. Just off target with a late effort.
Given the lone striker role, but often dragged out wide in search of the ball. Got an early shot away but Derby managed to keep him at arm’s length.
A far better outing that on his last home start, against Newcastle. In his supporting striker role he worked very hard at hunting the ball and kept trying to make things happen. Probably Rangers’ best man on the night.
On for Chery after 64 minutes and given the brief to pack the midfield even more. Accomplished that task well enough.
Not much service and unable to improve on the fortunes of Washington, who he replaced on 69 minutes.
