QPR’s Kranjcar passed fit for Wembley clash

Niko Kranjcar has been passed fit for QPR’s Wembley showdown with Derby.

Kranjcar aggravated a hamstring problem during Rangers’ play-off semi-final victory at home to Wigan but has made a good recovery ahead of Saturday’s final.

He has trained with the rest of the squad and is expected to feature against Steve McClaren’s side, having been one of the star performers in last week’s game at Loftus Road, where QPR’s triumph ended the club’s 28-year wait for a trip to Wembley.

Rangers boss Harry Redknapp selected Kranjcar after opting to leave Ravel Morrison out of the starting line-up against Wigan.

Redknapp said after the game: “I played a bloke called Niko Kranjcar. He’s got something like 86 caps for Croatia and is a fantastic player, a fantastic person and can make things happen.

“Ravel has done well but I went with Niko. I went for experience – Niko knows the game and I hope he’ll be fit to play at Wembley.”

Kranjcar’s swift recovery is a further boost for Rangers after popular midfielder Alejandro Faurlin’s return to full training this week following a long-term knee injury.

Faurlin is not being considered for this weekend’s game but is expected to be included in the official party that travels with the squad to Wembley.

Meanwhile, QPR are awaiting confirmation from the Korea Football Association that Yun Suk-young will be allowed to play.
