QPR v Blackburn player ratings

Nedum Onuoha rescued a point for QPR against Blackburn. Here’s how we rated the Rangers players in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw at Loftus Road.

Alex Smithies: 5
His fumble gifted Blackburn the lead but he did make an excellent point-blank save from Jordan Rhodes.

James Perch: 6
Was often drawn into marauding too far forward, leaving the dangerous Craig Conway with space to exploit in behind. That left Rangers often losing their defensive shape, although Perch did help create some promising openings.

Nedum Onuoha: 6
Really struggled to deal with the threat of Rhodes, one of the best players in the Championship, throughout the match. Rhodes turned Onuoha with relative ease for Rovers’ second goal and the centre-half continually struggled with the striker’s movement, but did score an important headed equaliser.

Gabriele Angella: 6
Provided good physical presence, particularly aerially in dealing with the frequent crosses that came in from both flanks. However, struggled when isolated against the impressive Rhodes and was beaten in the air in the build up to Blackburn’s second goal.

Paul Konchesky: 7
Was comfortable in defence and shackled the visitors’ attacking threat well. Looked the most comfortable of the back four, making various crucial interceptions through good positioning, and put in some teasing crosses at the other end.

Karl Henry: 7
Was a calming presence in front of a back four that struggled with Rhodes. Improved as the game went on and provided plenty of important tackles.

Daniel Tozser: 7
Had a disappointing first half but began to show his ability thereafter as Rangers improved. His set-piece for their second goal showed genuine quality and enabled the hosts to rescue a point.

Matt Philips; 6
Was very quiet in the first half but better in the second, when he managed to create some openings.

Massimo Luongo: 6
Had a somewhat disappointing match, losing the ball cheaply on several occasions early on before gradually improving. Needed to track back more though.

Tjaronn Chery: 5
Failed to take an excellent opportunity just before half-time when heading over from six yards after good work from Charlie Austin. Withdrawn with a quarter of the game left.

Charlie Austin: 8
Was kept quiet for the first half-hour but was involved in most of Rangers’ best work after that, including their first goal.

Jamie Mackie: 7
The substitute provided vim and vigour for Rangers, chasing every lost cause. His return from injury was a welcome sight.
