QPR were last night closing in on a deal to sign highly-rated Brazilian striker Henrique from Sao Paulo.
The player came to the attention of several European clubs while starring in last year’s Under-20 World Cup. He was the tournament’s top scorer and was voted best player.
Henrique, 20, looks likely to move to Loftus Road on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent switch.
Rangers are keen to sign at least one forward during this month’s transfer window.
They have also been looking to buy defenders, with Manchester City’s Nedum Onouha top of their wanted list.
And discussions with Chelsea over the possible signing of Alex are ongoing, despite the centre-back indicating that he would prefer to join French club Paris St-Germain.
