QPR boss Harry Redknapp is likely to decide in the next 48 hours whether to move to sign defender Marius Zaliukas.
The former Hearts skipper – a free agent since leaving Tynecastle during the summer – was on trial with the R’s prior to the recent international break but is now training with Leeds.
Redknapp, believing Nedum Onuoha may soon be back after a hamstring injury, hesitated over offering Zaliukas a contract.
But he suggested last week that he could yet bring in the 29-year-old, despite interest from Elland Road boss Brian McDermott.
And Rangers assistant manager Bond says Redknapp will consider his options early this week.
“I’m not sure whether that’s dead and buried,” Bond told West London Sport.
“The guy’s a free agent at this moment in time so he can go wherever he likes to go.
“Whether things have changed, we’ll see about that over the next day or so. Harry’s weighing up his options and seeing what he wants to do.
“We’ve got Nedum on the mend – and how soon we can get him back might be key to it all.”
Redknapp has strongly considered adding a defender to his squad and was on the verge of signing Zaliukas before deciding to hedge his bets.
Rangers are short of options at the back while Onuoha is out and potentially face another injury worry, with Danny Simpson having picked up knock in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Millwall.
Bond added: “The manager will have to have a look at it, assess Danny Simpson and see how he is and then see if he [Redknapp] thinks he needs to do something. “
