QPR three points above drop zone after defeat at Hull
QPR are just three points above the Championship relegation zone after being soundly beaten by Hull, who hadn’t won at home for more than two months.
The gap would be two points had fellow strugglers Huddersfield not conceded a stoppage-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Bristol City.
Ozan Tufan, Fabio Carvalho and Jaden Philogene scored for City.
Tufan cut in from the right and curled a superb shot in off the bar, before Carvalho lifted the ball over Begovic after being put through by Tufan.
QPR boss Marti Cifuentes made a double change at half-time, bringing on Paul Smyth and replacing right-back Jimmy Dunne, who had been given a torrid time by Philogene, with Reggie Cannon.
Smyth had a great chance to pull a goal back but shot wide after being set up by Ilias Chair.
Soon afterwards, Hull scored their third when Sam Field could only head Tyler Morton’s cross as far as West Londoner Philogene, who finished emphatically.
Smyth then missed another great chance, latching on to Field’s pass and rounding keeper Ryan Allsop only for his weak shot to allow Matty Jacob to clear off the line.
Cannon also cleared off the line to deny Liam Delap.
