QPR target defender after Simpson blow
QPR boss Harry Redknapp says Danny Simpson faces a spell on the sidelines with a back injury.
The defender has been ever-present for Rangers this season and Redknapp has previously expressed concern at the lack of cover for him.
Simpson has been ruled out of Tuesday’s game against Bolton, which Nedum Onuoha is also struggling to be fit for – potentially leaving Rangers with a problem at right-back.
Youngster Max Ehmer has been recalled from his loan spell at Carlisle and Redknapp is hoping to sign a defender before Friday’s transfer deadline.
“Danny has picked up an injury. It looks like he’s going to be out for weeks, for sure,” said Redknapp.
“It’s a back problem and it’s been ongoing – it’s just got worse. He’s having scans and has been told to rest for a while. I’d like to bring in a defender if we can.”
Rangers are interested in signing Livingston’s Coll Donaldson, who is primarily a central defender but can also play at right-back.
But the 18-year-old is considered a potential first-team player for the future rather than this season.
“He’s only a young kid. We’d need someone with more experience,” said Redknapp.
