QPR have made an offer for Tottenham defender Michael Dawson.
Rangers tabled a bid of around £6m after being made aware that Spurs may be willing to sell the England international.
Manager Mark Hughes is keen to take at least one centre-back to Loftus Road before the transfer window closes and has made enquiries about a host of players.
Dawson, 28, was hampered by injury problems last season and made only 13 first-team appearances.
He moved to White Hart Lane from Nottingham Forest in 2005 and five years later won the first of his four England caps.
