Osayi-Samuel ‘would love to stay’ – as QPR contract talks continue

Bright Osayi-Samuel says he would “love to stay” at QPR and that Mark Warburton and Chris Ramsey have played key roles in his recent form.

West London Sport recently revealed that Osayi-Samuel and Ryan Manning have rejected initial contract offers but negotiations are ongoing and there is every expectation that both will eventually sign.

Their current deals expire at the end of the season but in both cases Rangers hold the option of a one-year extension, meaning they are under contract until 2021.

Osayi-Samuel, who recently turned 22, said: “Obviously I would love to stay. But I’m just focused on playing games and I let the contract stuff be solved with my agent and the club.

“I just want to keep playing and see what happens.”

The winger, signed from Blackpool in 2017, has been in terrific form.

He scored twice in the recent 6-1 hammering of Cardiff and netted again in 5-1 win over Swansea in the FA Cup.

Osayi-Samuel was outstanding in both matches and, having been in and out of the side since his arrival at QPR, is now becoming firmly established as a first-choice player.

And he puts the improvement in his game down to working with manager Mark Warburton and technical director Chris Ramsey.

He explained: “I’ve learned so much. After training the gaffer or Chris will talk to me for 10 or 20 minutes after the session.

“I just improve my end product when I get to the byline or in dangerous areas. I feel like now it’s paying off.

“I believe I get into dangerous areas every game but the main thing is the end product.

“When I get into dangerous areas it’s that composure. I feel like before I didn’t have that composure and was rushing things, but now I feel more calm and relaxed.”
