QPR are to sign former Tottenham youngster Freddy Champion on a professional contract.
He joined on trial earlier this year after being released by the north London club, and was subsequently taken on as a scholar.
And after impressing at youth and reserve level, the 17-year-old midfielder has signed an agreement that will see him turn pro with the R’s in 2012.
Champion was born and raised in Shepherd’s Bush and was on the books of QPR and Chelsea before Spurs snapped him up.
He attended Shene School in Richmond – as did boxer George Groves – and initially came to Rangers’ attention as a 12-year-old.
