Analytics company helping QPR find new director of football
An analytics company is overseeing QPR’s appointment of a new director of football.
A replacement for Les Ferdinand, who recently stood down from the role, is not expected to be in place for at least another month.
There has been plenty of interest in the job, with a host of potential candidates contacting Rangers since Ferdinand’s departure. Others on the radar are currently at other clubs.
The recruitment process is being managed by American firm Retexo Intelligence, who have worked with a number of clubs, including Real Madrid, Paris St-Germain, Barcelona and Roma.
Retexo have made contact with several contenders for the role with a view to drawing up a shortlist.
The final decision on an appointment will be made by QPR’s majority shareholder Ruben Gnanalingam.
But Retexo are heavily involved in the vetting process, using data to analyse the merits of each candidate.
The company also advises clubs on potential takeovers and improving academies as well the buying and selling of players.

So the club cant be bothered to do their own recruitment, says it all really, why spend money on players when it can get spent on a glorified employment agency whose main aim is to make themselves money over the interests of the client. Reminds me of decades ago, when I argued that it is better to recruit someone who has plenty of experience rather than a graduate with next to no previous experience. Are the board REALLY saying that they cant make this decision on their own? or do they think they are too busy and important to do so?
