Rangers boss unsure over Kranjcar’s future

QPR manager Harry Redknapp says it is too early to judge whether Niko Kranjcar will end up staying on a permanent basis.

The Croatian, who also played under Redknapp at Tottenham and Portsmouth, recently arrived at Loftus Road on a season-long loan from Dynamo Kiev.

Kranjcar, 29, was unhappy in Ukraine and has subsequently made it clear that he would like to remain with Rangers beyond the end of the campaign.

But Redknapp said: “I don’t know exactly what the situation is. Dynamo Kiev paid a lot of money for him. We’ll have to see what happens.”

Redknapp has overhauled his squad.

Kranjcar has indicated that he would be willing to sign a permanent deal when the transfer window reopens in January if the two clubs can reach an agreement.

Rangers currently intend to wait until the end of the season, by which time they hope to have won promotion back to the top flight.

Redknapp added: “You would love to have him here, but the end of the season is a long way off, so let’s see what happens this year at QPR. He can certainly play in the Premier League.

“Niko’s a good player. He’s got 70-odds caps for Croatia, who have produced some fantastic players over the years.

“He’s a real good player and will get fitter with games. I took him to Portsmouth and Tottenham and am pleased to have him here now.”
