Mark Warburton said Geoff Cameron, Luke Amos, Osman Kakay and keeper Joe Lumley were QPR’s better performers in their 3-0 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.
The R’s suffered their fifth defeat in six games since the season resumed, as the Owls scored twice in the first half before adding a late third.
Dominic Iorfa opened the scoring after six minutes - a familiar trend for QPR in recent games - and Josh Windass doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time.
Murphy made it three with 12 minutes to go.
Despite the hugely disappointing display, Warburton thought there were a few noteworthy performances.
He said: “I thought Joe had no real chance for the goals and made a couple of very good saves.
“But out of the outfield players, I thought Geoff, Osman Kakay and Luke Amos stood up today, and got involved and showed full commitment to it.
“I thought those three boys showed a real desire to change the game around.”
Manager Warburton has sought to defend his players after poor results this season.
But this time he admitted: “It would be foolish to do that today. We were lacklustre and got what we deserved.
“It's not a lack of commitment from the players, we were way below our level. What we do well, we didn't do well today. Simple as that.”
