QPR’s Tommy Smith is hopeful that Adel Taarabt’s absence will give him a chance to re-establish himself in the starting line-up.
With Taarabt with Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations and Rangers still trying to complete new signings, Smith could play a prominent role in the next couple of matches.
“Adel’s absence is a chance for me as it pushes me up the pecking order a bit,” he said.
“I’m ready to take my chance when it comes. Hopefully if I can get a run in the team you never know what might happen.
“Every player wants to be playing football. You can take a little bit of time on the sidelines but if your chances are limited for too long it’s something you have to think about.”
