QPR are hoping to finalise the signing of Geoff Cameron – on a permanent deal.
Cameron told West London Sport in March that he wanted to return to Loftus Road after his season-long loan from Stoke City ended.
He has a year remaining on his contract and is not in Potters boss Nathan Jones’ plans.
Another loan move is a possibility, but Cameron is looking to agree a financial settlement to leave Stoke and sign for QPR as a free agent.
The American, who turns 34 on Thursday, missed more than three months of last term with ankle ligament damage.
But he impressed before and after that injury and Rangers have long been hoping to have him back on board for the coming season.
Cameron, who made 19 appearances for the R’s, is currently training with Stoke’s development squad and is one of eight players Jones has told will not play for the club under him.
The others are Bojan, Moritz Bauer, Mame Biram Diouf, Giannelli Imbula, Julien Ngoy, Erik Pieters and Kevin Wimmer.

I'm pleased that we are rebuilding from the back,however we are as usual in dire need of someone to score our goals this coming season and I don't mean just one goalscorer ,we need two or three. We returned our two loan signings strikers and sold our best midfielder goalscorer ,plus gifted mat smith to Millwall,so our need is indeed Dire!.
Any young player needs decent experienced pro's around them..this is a decent move and vital for the squad to have some experience. Look at how young the squad is now...looks like the under 23's.
why are we signing people over 30yrs old for we need a couple of forward not old players
