QPR goalkeeper set for new deal

QPR

QPR plan to extend Joe Lumley’s contract before sending the goalkeeper out on loan this week.

Lumley, 21, had been lined up for a loan move to Gillingham but that deal now appears unlikely to go through.

Rangers are looking at other options as they are keen for Lumley to pick up more first-team experience.

He made six appearances during a loan spell at Accrington in 2014, but only one during a stint at Morecambe and none at all while on loan at Stevenage last season.

Lumley has since made his senior debut for QPR, at Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup, and played in the Championship game against Blackburn in January.

With keeper Conor Hudnott having been ruled out for around six months with a shoulder injury, Rangers’ signing of Seny Dieng for the development squad means they are now willing to let Lumley go elsewhere.

Meanwhile, QPR have indicated to Barnsley that they are willing to sell Cole Kpekawa after receiving an approach from the Yorkshire club.
