QPR’s Jamie Mackie faces at least another three months on the sidelines.
Mackie, 30, has suffered ankle ligament damage during an attempted comeback from a hamstring problem.
He had surgery on his hamstring in May after missing much of last season because of the injury.
“It is hugely disappointing news for Jamie, and for us,” manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told Rangers’ website.
“He has worked incredibly hard over the summer to give himself the best chance of being fit as soon as possible, so I really feel for him.
“We all know how determined an individual Jamie is, and we look forward to having him fit and available for selection.”
Mackie, a fans favourite from a previous three-year spell at QPR, returned to the club from Nottingham Forest last summer.
However, he was out for three months after being injured in the 4-0 defeat at Fulham and his season was ended by another hamstring tear in April.
