QPR left-back Jack Robinson will be unavailable for the start of the new season.
The 22-year-old is not expected to return to full training for a number of weeks because of a niggling problem related to the knee injury that sidelined him for more than a year.
Robinson was sent on a season-long loan to Huddersfield Town immediately after being signed from Liverpool in August 2014.
He suffered cruciate ligament damage while playing for the Yorkshire club the following March, condemning him to a long spell out of action.
Robinson made his long-awaited debut in April, but that outing against Charlton towards the end of last season remains his only competitive appearance for QPR.
Having featured in the early part of Rangers’ pre-season campaign, Robinson has missed their recent friendlies and has been receiving treatment.
Niggling injuries are common while players work their way back to full fitness following long-term knee injuries.
Rangers are pleased with Robinson’s overall progress and do not want to rush his return to action.
Left-back Jake Bidwell, who was recently signed from Brentford, has recovered from recent knock and is on course to start the season for the R’s.
Another summer signing, Joel Lynch, has returned to training following a hamstring strain.
But Jamie Mackie has been ruled out for at least another three months after suffering ankle ligament damage during his attempted comeback from a hamstring injury.
