United States international Tim Ream is discussing personal terms with QPR after a £1.4m bid for the centre-back was accepted by Bolton.
West London Sport recently revealed that Rangers had had an offer of £1m for the 27-year-old rejected.
But Ream travelled to the capital for talks on Wednesday evening after the two clubs agreed a fee.
Ream has made 126 appearances for Bolton since joining them from New York Red Bulls in 2012.
QPR hope to complete the signing by the weekend but he will not be available to play against Cardiff on Saturday as his visa will need to be renewed.
