QPR midfielder Jordan Cousins could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a thigh injury in training.
Cousins, signed from Charlton during the summer, is due to have a scan to determine the extent of the problem.
A tear rather than a strain would rule the 22-year-old out for a significant period – and Ian Holloway says the signs are not good.
Cousins has been plagued by hamstring trouble since arriving at Rangers.
R’s boss Holloway said: “Jordan Cousins got injured. It’s a thigh strain or a tear – he’s having a scan. That doesn’t look very good at all.
“Is it just that? The other day it was his hamstring and then it was this and then it was that, so is there a misalignment of him somewhere? We’ve got to get to the bottom of that.
“It’s absolutely devastating for the boy. He’s just starting to look as sharp as he has been since he’s been here.”
Cousins was left out of the starting line-up for Saturday’s FA Cup game against Blackburn because Holloway believed he would have a crucial role to play at Reading on Thursday.
Holloway explained: “I was trying to save him for this game. The pitch there is massive and he was part of what I was going to do.”
