QPR will be without Massimo Luongo for a while longer after Australia avoided a major upset against Uzbekistan and reached the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup.
Luongo’s side won on penalties after a 0-0 draw with the underdogs at the tournament in the United Arab Emirates.
The Rangers midfielder came on as a substitute during the second period of extra time.
He has been badly missed by his club, who would have been pleased to welcome him back had the Socceroos been eliminated.
But their win means they will play again on Friday for a place in the semi-finals. The final will take place the following Friday.
