QPR assessing latest Clarke-Salter injury setback
QPR expect to discover the extent of Jake Clarke-Salter’s latest injury setback in the next 48 hours, Marti Cifuentes has indicated.
Already without a number of players, Rangers suffered another blow when key defender Clarke-Salter missed the goalless draw with Sunderland because of a recurring calf problem.
“Probably in between tomorrow and Monday we will know more about it,” said Cifuentes.
Striker Michael Frey is currently sidelined, as are Jack Colback, Kenneth Paal and Karamoko Dembele, while Harrison Ashby went off injured during the Sunderland game.
Morgan Fox, who has also been unavailable, appears to be close to a return.
But Rangers are assessing a knee injury Dembele recently picked up in training.
Cifuentes is hoping some of those players will be back before the international break later this month.
The R’s head coach said: “Trust me that I’m pushing, but we need to understand that sometimes it’s not easy to recover players in these short weeks.
“I know the medical department is working really hard to make sure that as many of them (come back as soon as possible) – because we need them.”
