QPR hoping to have McCallum in squad for Barnsley game

QPR are hoping to include Sam McCallum in the squad for Saturday’s game against Barnsley.

The left-back is yet to make his competitive debut following a loan move from Norwich.

He missed the opening-day draw with Millwall because of a minor injury concern and has since been laid low by illness.

McCallum and Lee Wallace were due to be assessed on Friday morning.

Wallace went off with a hamstring injury during Wednesday’s win at Middlesbrough.

Rangers therefore have a potential problem on the left as Moses Odubjao, who might otherwise be switched to that side, is suspended after being sent off against Boro.

“Sam McCallum is getting there,” said manager Mark Warburton on Friday.

“He had a stomach problem and lost some weight. Hopefully we’ll get him back – we’ll see how he reports this morning.

“Lee we’ll also assess today. I thought he was outstanding the other night and now we’ve just got to see how he is.”

Meanwhile, Warburton has once again dismissed reports linking Rob Dickie and Seny Dieng with Premier League clubs.

And QPR defender Conor Masterson is set to join Cambridge United on loan.
