QPR ‘definitely believe’ they can beat Sunderland – boss
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says QPR believe they can pull off an EFL Cup upset and beat Sunderland at Loftus Road on Wednesday.
Hasselbaink has admitted that his side’s confidence has been badly affected by last week’s 6-0 defeat at home to Newcastle.
But the Rangers manager insists they are capable of winning the third-round tie against the Black Cats.
“We definitely believe that we can beat them,” Hasselbaink said.
“You have to have belief. You have to try to win the match and that’s definitely what we’re going to do.”
Hasselbaink plans to make some changes for the game, with youngster Osman Kakay among those in contention for starting places.
The Dutchman has recently faced criticism from fans, with many suggesting that his style of play is too conservative.
However, Hasselbaink responded this week by insisting that observation is wide of the mark.
“Conservative? I don’t think so. I don’t agree with that,” he said.
“We’ve had two out and out wingers, a number 10 and a striker.
“When you’re winning, everything is good. When you’re losing, questions are going to be asked. That’s football and that’s normal.”
