QPR defender De Wijs sidelined until new year
QPR defender Jordy de Wijs is likely to be sidelined until the new year.
De Wijs continues to struggle with a calf injury and is now not expected to be available this side of Christmas.
He has been out since going off during the first half of last month’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.
The 26-year-old Dutchman has been beset by injuries since joining the R’s, initially on loan.
Those injuries include a previous calf problem, which the current issue is unrelated to.
De Wijs was signed from Hull City on a permanent deal in the summer, having impressed when available to play during his loan spell last season.
He has started 11 Championship matches this term and 20 in total since his arrival in west London in January.
QPR have had a number of injury worries recently, with Sam McCallum having been sidelined by a torn hamstring.
Stefan Johansen limped off near the end of this week’s win over Huddersfield.
The captain will be assessed ahead of Monday’s trip to Derby along with Lyndon Dykes, Andre Gray and Moses Odubajo, who missed Wednesday’s game.

Our injury problems are no worse than other teams, the big difference is in the size of the squads.
