Danny Gabbidon says QPR’s players are too focused on a must-win game against fellow strugglers Wigan to think about their FA Cup clash with Chelsea.
The defender’s second-half winner against MK Dons set up fourth-round match at home to the Blues, whose visit to Loftus Road in October ended in a hugely controversial win for Rangers.
But the importance of Saturday’s league encounter with bottom-of-the-table Wigan cannot be overstated given that QPR are only two places above the Latics and in desperate need of a victory.
Gabbidon said: “We’re not even thinking about the Chelsea game. The Wigan game is massive for us.
“It’d be nice to have a cup run but we know we need to start picking up points in the league.
“It’s one of those games this weekend – they’re one of the teams around us and you have to beat those.
“Especially being at home as well – we have to improve our home form as it hasn’t been good enough – it’s a massive, massive game and one we have to win.”
