QPR confirm signing of keeper Green

QPR have confirmed the signing of England goalkeeper Robert Green.

The 32-year-old has moved to Loftus Road on a Bosman free transfer as his West Ham contract expires this summer.

Green, who is currently with the England squad at the European Championship, has agreed a two-year deal.

R’s boss Mark Hughes was keen to sign a keeper before the start of the season and also showed an interest in Shay Given, Jack Butland and Ben Foster.

But Green’s refusal to sign a new contract at West Ham paved the way for Rangers to bring him to west London.

Paddy Kenny will now be made available to other clubs and has been strongly linked with a move to Leeds United.

The keeper played under Elland Road boss Neil Warnock at QPR, Sheffield United and Bury.

So far there has been no approach made by Leeds for Kenny, although that could change now he is free to move on.
