QPR confirm new Taarabt contract
QPR have confirmed that Adel Taarabt has agreed a new long-term deal.
The 23-year-old Moroccan, whose contract was due to expire next year, has signed until 2016.
West London Sport revealed in April that Taarabt was in line for a vastly improved contract at Loftus Road despite supposed interest from German side Wolfsburg.
Rangers were open to offers for Taarabt prior to Mark Hughes’ appointment as manager in January and spent much of last summer trying to negotiate his sale to Paris St-Germain.
But he was restored to the side by Hughes and played an important role in keeping the club in the Premier League.
QPR have also announced that Taarabt will wear the much-cherished number 10 shirt – previously worn by the likes of Rodney Marsh, Stan Bowles and Roy Wegerle – for the coming season.
New signing Park Ji-sung has been allocated the number seven shirt.
