QPR complete deal to sign Chile’s Vargas
QPR have confirmed the signing of Chile forward Eduardo Vargas from Napoli on a season-long loan.
The 24-year-old, who featured for his country at this summer’s World Cup and can play up front or as a winger, has joined the R’s with a view to a permanent move.
His representatives indicated on Monday evening that he wanted to move to London rather than Sunderland, who were also interested.
Rangers were therefore able to tie up the deal and Vargas completed a medical on Wednesday.
He becomes the second Chilean to sign for the club this summer, with Mauricio Isla having arrived from Juventus.
Vargas joined Napoli in 2012 and is yet to score a league goal for them, but he did net three times in 17 La Liga appearances while on loan at Valencia during the second half of last season.
