Dujon Sterling is due to have a medical later today ahead of his move to Wigan on loan from Chelsea.
QPR recently discussed a potential loan deal for the right-back, 19, following the sale of Darnell Furlong to West Brom.
But Rangers decided against using up another loan and instead signed Todd Kane, who was a free agent after leaving Chelsea this summer.
Wigan have since made an approach for Sterling, who has made two first-team appearances for the Blues – both as a substitute.
He played 40 games on loan for League One side Coventry City last season.
A move to Wigan would see him follow in the footsteps of fellow right-back Reece James, who impressed while on loan with the Latics from Chelsea last season.
