QPR decide against loan move for keeper Walsh

Mark Warburton says young goalkeeper Joe Walsh will not be leaving QPR on loan.

West London Sport recently revealed that Rangers were reconsidering plans to send Walsh, 19, out on loan, because he had impressed so much in training and was even pushing for a place in the first-team squad.

Warburton in the end decided to give Jordan Archer the nod and the summer signing has played in the Carabao Cup and been on the bench for Rangers’ five league games this season.

But the manager has decided to keep Walsh at the club as extra cover for first-choice keeper Seny Dieng.

Rangers are, however, open to Dillon Barnes making another loan move.

Barnes has previously been on loan at Burton Albion and Hibernian.

He spent time on trial with Doncaster this summer but they opted to look elsewhere for a keeper and signed Pontus Dahlberg from Watford.

“At the moment he (Walsh) will be staying with the squad. He’s doing really well – exceptionally well,” Warburton said.

“Joe’s doing particularly well and really impressing on a daily basis.”

Striker Charlie Kelman, on the other hand, is being lined up for a loan move now a deal to bring Andre Gray on loan from Watford is in place.
