QPR boss to decide on Perone

Neil Warnock expects the future of QPR trialist Bruno Perone to be decided next week.

The Brazilian centre-back has featured throughout Rangers’ pre-season campaign and would have played the entire match against Crawley on Tuesday had he not picked up a head injury.

Perone was initially regarded by Rangers as highly unlikely to be retained, but his performances have led manager Warnock to take a longer look.

“He’s a good player who can also play in midfield,” said Warnock.

“I think he’s done well and I really want to see him play a full 90 minutes. I’d hoped it’d be against Crawley but it wasn’t to be.

“I’ve no doubt he could get another club over here, but he’s been keen to stay with us. I’d expect to make a decision on that probably towards the end of next week.”

Former Ipswich goalkeeper Brian Murphy, who has also been on trial with the R’s, will be offered a contract.
