QPR to train in Portugal during pre-season

QPR will travel to Portugal for a training camp in late June as part of their preparations for next season.

Rangers will spend seven days in the Algarve soon after reporting back for pre-season training.

Manager Ian Holloway has used the facility in Lagos, close to the Atlantic Ocean, during his time in charge at Blackpool and Millwall.

His team will train behind closed doors and will not play any matches during their time in Portugal.

“I’m delighted we’re going back to a place that I’m familiar with – and I know is absolutely perfect for a pre-season training camp,” Holloway told QPR’s website.

“It’ll be work, work, work work, work. There are no games on this trip so it’s not one for the fans to have to worry about booking anything up – everything we do will be behind-closed-doors because the first week of pre-season is so crucial.

“This is purely a camp for the lads to work three-times-a-day to get some important early work in the tank.

“I got where I was as a player through good fitness levels – and that all came from really good pre-season campaigns.

“It’s a wonderful venue and I’m already looking forward to working the boys hard.”
