Steve McClaren has played down reports QPR could sign Sebastien Bassong.
West London Sport revealed this week that the former Tottenham and Norwich central defender had been given permission to train with Rangers while he searches for a new club.
It prompted reports that Bassong, 32, is on trial ahead of a potential move to Loftus Road and Football.London to suggest the club are hoping to tie up a deal to sign him.
But manager McClaren said: “Bassong has been training with us just to keep fit. He’ll continue to train with us and we’ll see.”
McClaren is, however, keen to bring in another centre-back on loan as well as two strikers, with QPR having lost all four of his league games in charge.
He insisted after being jeered during Tuesday’s defeat against Bristol City that he is the right man for the job.
