Ian Holloway says he was encouraged by Yeni Ngbakoto’s performance for QPR at Rotherham despite the French winger getting some things wrong.
Ngbakoto played an hour of the game at the New York Stadium, where Rangers lost 1-0 to the Championship’s bottom side.
It was the summer signing’s first start since September and R’s boss Holloway felt Ngbakoto’s tendency to move inside caused his team problems.
Holloway said: “One or two things weren’t quite right, particularly down the left-hand side and the balance between Yeni and Jake Bidwell.
“Yeni kept going too far in. It really hurt us a little bit.
“But he’s French and we’re getting there. He hadn’t played for a while and I still loved his performance.
“There were a couple of times when I felt he could have come back towards the ball and got it off of Sandro.
“But overall I loved a lot of what we did and thought our shape looked better. We’ve just got to believe in it and commit to it.”
Rangers’ defeat was their third in a row and left them 18th in the table, just three points above the relegation zone.
