Jordy de Wijs could play for QPR at Middlesbrough on Saturday despite suffering a broken nose this week.
The Dutchman’s nose had to be reset after he took a nasty whack to the face during Tuesday’s defeat at Rotherham.
His withdrawal at half-time continued a frustrating loan spell for De Wijs, who has been plagued by problems since his arrival from Hull City in January.
A calf problem meant he had to wait until March for his R’s debut and more recently he was sidelined by groin injury.
But he was due to be assessed on Friday morning with a view to including him in the squad for the trip to Teesside.
Manager Mark Warburton said: “It was a nasty knock and he broke his nose. He’s had it reset.
“Hopefully he’ll be okay this morning and okay to travel. We’ll see how he presents.
“It was a nasty one but it happens - that’s football. It’s been frustrating for him but he’s certainly been very good when he’s played for us.
“We’ll see how he is. We got back (from Rotherham) in the early hours and he had it reset on Wednesday before letting it calm down yesterday. So we’ll see how he presents this morning.”
Lee Wallace and captain Geoff Cameron missed the game at Rotherham, where Rangers lost 3-1 after taking the lead through Lyndon Dykes’ fifth goal in as many matches.
Wallace is expected to return after his rest but Warburton says a “slight niggle” means Cameron is likely to also be unavailable on Saturday and for Tuesday’s game at Swansea.
The American could return for the home match against Championship leaders Norwich next Saturday.
“Probably not this weekend for Geoff but hopefully the weekend after,” Warburton said.
