Amos and Roberts expected to return to training soon

QPR: Luke Amos
Luke Amos ended last season in excellent form

QPR’s Luke Amos and Tyler Roberts are expected to return to training by the beginning of next week.

Both players have missed Rangers’ past three pre-season friendlies, with on-loan Leeds forward Roberts nursing a thigh issue and midfielder Amos recovering from a hamstring problem.

But boss Mick Beale hopes the pair will be fit enough to return for the Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers on 30 July.

“Tyler and Luke will be back in training for the first part of next week, maybe the end of this week, which is good news,” Beale told West London Sport.

“They obviously then need to get up to speed like the other boys are, so there’s no rushing in terms of that because when they come back we’re going to need them to be firing.

“It’s nothing major with any of them. Tyler had a slight issue with his thigh which was seven to 10 days, which set him back a little bit.

“Luke felt a twinge in his hamstring but he’s been in and out of rehab so far.

“I don’t know whether they’ll be 100% ready but they will be back (for Blackburn). There’s a loose aim of Blackburn certainly for Tyler and for Luke to join Chris (Willock) for that as well.

“But as I said there’s no risk. They’ll have to come through a couple of heavy weeks to get them up to speed. It’s important that they have pre-season and that I don’t take that away from them.”

Rangers continued their pre-season campaign with an 8-2 win against Wealdstone on Wednesday evening.
