Ian Holloway believes the return of Nedum Onuoha has helped his other defenders and made it easier for QPR to play with the manager’s preferred 3-5-2 formation.
Saturday’s 2-1 win at Birmingham ended Rangers’ long wait for an away win and Holloway is hoping for more of the same in this weekend’s home game against Bristol City.
“Nedum Onuoha was vital to us on Saturday – he’s important to us feeling solid,” R’s boss Holloway told the club website.
“He cleared things and got in the way. He lets the likes of Jack Robinson and Alex Baptiste express themselves.
“It was the first time in a long while that we were able to get back to that formation.
“I’ve got a system that I think we can play, and against the top teams it’s worked really well.”
Grant Hall has also recently returned to action following his injury, but fellow defenders James Perch and Joel Lynch are not expected on Saturday.
