Rangers still chasing Belfodil loan deal

QPR boss Harry Redknapp is still hoping a loan deal can be agreed for Inter Milan forward Ishak Belfodil.

West Ham have also shown an interest in the Algerian and negotiations have been complicated by the fact he is co-owned by Parma, who want him sold for £7.5m.

Parma have a say in Belfodil’s future as they will land 50% of any transfer fee, having signed him from French club Lyon in 2012 and agreed a deal for him to join Inter last summer.

Redknapp and chairman Tony Fernandes are hoping to sign at least one striker this month and have made enquiries about a host of players.

Redknapp is keen to make signings.

Another possible option is Auxerre’s France Under-21 international Paul Georges-Ntep, who is wanted by Rennes but is keen to move to London.

Rangers were hopeful that West Ham boss Sam Allardyce would cool his interest in Belfodil, 21, if the east London club managed to complete the signing of Lacina Traore.

But Monaco’s Traore looks set to join Everton, and Redknapp said: “I think West Ham want him [Belfodil] too.

“He’s a player of interest to us and it’s a case of whether there’s a deal to be done or not.

“I’m not too certain where that situation’s gone. The chairman’s been dealing with it with [chief executive] Philip Beard. They’re getting on with that.”

Parma have indicated that they may be open to a compromise over Belfodil, who scored eight goals for Inter last season but has not found the net so far this term.
