Under-pressure Hasselbaink hoping for reprieve

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink hopes he will be given more time as QPR manager following the 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.

Rangers were heading for another defeat when Idrissa Sylla rescued a point with a late header.

“If they (QPR’s owners) are going to do something, that’s the nature of the game,” Hasselbaink said.

“I’m trying to do a good job and I think we’re going in a good direction.

“Hopefully, I’m being given time, if not, I can’t do anything, that’s not my decision.”

Hasselbaink also felt his players deserved more at the City Ground, where Karl Henry was sent off shortly before Britt Assombalonga’s goal put Forest in front.

The hosts were also reduced to 10 men when Hildeberto Pereira was shown two quick yellow cards with 20 minutes to go, which led to QPR’s revival and Sylla’s equaliser.

Hasselbaink said: “Even though we were a man down we were the better team.

“We created, we controlled the game and I think we were unlucky.

“When we scored there was only one team in it. You could feel that they were just waiting for when the second goal was coming in.”
