Charlton manager Chris Powell has confirmed his interest in Shaun Wright-Phillips but admitted he looks unlikely to land the out-of-favour QPR winger.
West London Sport revealed last week that Powell was keen to sign the 32-year-old former England international on loan but Wright-Phillips indicated that he did not want to join the Addicks.
And Powell said: “He has been linked. He is a player we have enquired about but at this moment in time I don’t think it is going to happen.”
Wright-Phillips, who not started a match since September, moved to west London from Manchester City in August 2011, when he signed a three-year contract.
He has failed to impress at Loftus Road and has been pushed further down the pecking order by Rangers’ recent loan signing of Ravel Morrison from West Ham.
QPR manager Harry Redknapp last month told West London Sport he doubted Wright-Phillips would leave on loan.
