Portsmouth are interested in signing Paul Smyth on loan from QPR.
Smyth, 20, moved to west London from Linfield a year ago and impressed after breaking into the side last season, scoring on his debut against Cardiff City in January.
He has started just one of Rangers’ five matches under manager Steve McClaren this season, against Sheffield United, and was substituted at half-time.
Pompey, managed by former QPR assistant boss Kenny Jackett, therefore believe the Northern Ireland Under-21 forward might be allowed to leave Loftus Road on loan.
It comes after the R’s allowed Ryan Manning to join Rotherham for the season.
Jackett recently signed David Wheeler from QPR on a season-long loan.
Meanwhile, Blackburn have made an enquiry about Idrissa Sylla.
