Phillips pleased after Rangers debut
Matt Phillips said he was pleased to finally make his debut for QPR.
Charlie Austin’s first league goal for Rangers was enough to give them all three points against Birmingham and they remain second behind Championship leaders Blackpool on goal difference.
And Phillips believes another hard-fought 1-0 win is proof that they are heading in the right direction.
He said: “No game is going to come easy in this league, we know that.
“But today, without playing as well as we know we can, we still got the three points, so that’s the main thing.”
The 22-year-old, who joined the R’s from Blackpool last month, replaced the injured Junior Hoilett towards the end of the first half.
And Phillips has set his sights on a regular place in boss Harry Redknapp’s starting XI after recovering from a broken arm.
“Everything is fine with my arm now, throughout the last few weeks I’ve been taking part in full training and getting knocks on it and it’s fine,” he said.
“Towards the end it was tough as I was a bit out of my feet, but I’m glad to have got on and made my debut.
“It might take me a couple of games to get right up to scratch, but hopefully after then I will be up and running.”
