Warburton confirms Austin’s QPR contract expires this summer
Mark Warburton has confirmed that Charlie Austin’s QPR contract is about to expire.
The striker, who turns 33 in July, was signed last summer on what was announced as a two-year deal.
West London Sport revealed that it was in fact a one-year contract with a second year dependent on him making a certain number of appearances – and that he has fallen short of that number.
He is expected to leave along with manager Warburton, whose contract is not being renewed.
Warburton said: “Everyone’s now aware of the contract situation. What happens now will be decided after the next game.”

Our hungry young strikers are all out on loan (or sitting it out on the bench).

He’s well worth hanging on to for another season. Who’s to blame for him not making the required number of games? oh yes, Warbs. Well done old chap, Bon Voyage.

Unfortunately, despite being a club legend, this season has not being a success for Austin. His headed goal against Sheffield United a rare glimpse of his clinical finishing, this season. Hopefully, the wages saved can be used to entice a hungry young striker to the club.
