Harry Redknapp says he has not heard from Yossi Benayoun since offering the former Chelsea man a trial at QPR.
Benayoun, a free agent since his contract at Stamford Bridge expired at the end of last season, is looking to return to England.
His representatives recently suggested Rangers were among several Championship clubs looking to sign him, leading to reports he was on the verge of a move to Loftus Road.
West London Sport revealed last week that the 33-year-old had been invited to train with the R’s, but manager Redknapp insists there have been no further developments.
Redknapp said: “Someone rang me about him a week ago and I said I’d be interested enough to look at him and see how he looks, but I haven’t heard anything more.
“We don’t need anyone but you just never know. We’ve lost Tom Carroll for a few games and things do happen.”
Having made his name in the Premier League with West Ham, Benayoun was at Liverpool before a £5m move to Chelsea in 2010.
He made only one league start in a three-year spell with the Blues, during which he was loaned to West Ham and Arsenal.
Several clubs, including QPR, were approached about signing Benayoun during the summer, when he was looking for a two-year deal.
