Portsmouth have cooled their interest in Paul Smyth.
Pompey considered the Northern Ireland international as possible loan signing and also made an enquiry about his QPR team-mate Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Rangers were unwilling to part with Bright-Samuel but manager Steve McClaren indicated that he would consider letting Smyth leave on loan before this week’s deadline.
However, Portsmouth, managed by former QPR assistant boss Kenny Jackett, have decided to look elsewhere.
Smyth moved to west London from Linfield a year ago and impressed after breaking into Rangers’ first team in January.
But he has been a fringe player so far under McClaren, who on Tuesday was planning to select him for the Carabao Cup second-round tie against Bristol Rovers.
