QPR boss Harry Redknapp has dismissed reports linking him with a move for Newcastle defender Steven Taylor.
The centre-back, 27, has not played for Alan Pardew’s side since August – his only first-team appearance this season.
But Redknapp doubts the Magpies would let Taylor leave and insists he has no plans to sign a defender in January.
He said: “I’ve never heard that one and I wouldn’t think Newcastle would be too keen to let Steven Taylor leave – I’d be very surprised.
“It’s not something I’ve discussed with Alan Pardew or anyone. We’re very strong at the back with Clint Hill, Richard Dunne and Nedum Onuoha and have done very well.”
