QPR left Tyneside with a deserved point after a spirited display against Newcastle. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 2-2 draw at St James’ Park.
Yet again the Rangers keeper produced crucial saves, this time preventing a third Newcastle goal by Yoan Gouffran and Ayoze Pérez.
Beaten in the air for Newcastle’s second goal and was inevitably given problems by such a talented Newcastle side. But the youngster is learning all the time and stuck to his task.
A very good display from the Rangers captain, who defended solidly.
Excellent at both ends of the pitch. He was a strong barrier in defence and his presence in the box was instrumental in QPR’s first equaliser.
Unable to clear his lines, leading to the opening goal, but atoned with a well-executed volley which led to Rangers’ first-half equaliser and overall he played well.
Missed a couple of good chances and could have done better in the build up to the opening goal. But he worked hard throughout and played his part in a fine team display.
Also at fault for the opening goal, allowing Isaac Hayden to wriggle away. But he otherwise did the job he was asked to do in midfield, protecting the back four well.
Heavily involved in the opening half an hour, seeing one shot flash wide and another goal-bound effort blocked. Constantly caused Newcastle problems with his clever movement and got through plenty of defensive work too.
His inexperience showed at times and he gave the ball away on occasions. But his work-rate was magnificent.
Chased like his life depended on it and caused Newcastle major problems as a result in the first half. Was less influential in the second.
Great stuff from the striker, whose goal was his second in as many games and came after he controlled Bidwell’s volley superbly. Before that he was lively, creating a number of openings. Could perhaps have been quicker to close down Jonjo Shelvey in the build up to Newcastle’s first goal though.
Brought on for his debut midway through the second half. Didn’t make any real impact because Newcastle were on top for much of his time on the pitch.
