New signing Nardi impresses in QPR friendly
Goalkeeper Paul Nardi impressed on his home debut for QPR as they lost 2-0 to Tottenham in a pre-season friendly.
Fellow summer signings Liam Morrison, Heverrton Santos and Daniel Bennie also made their home debuts in the match at Loftus Road.
Frenchman Nardi was unable to prevent Yves Bissouma’s well-worked goal just before half-time or Dane Scarlett’s late tap-in, but did produce a number of saves.
In the first half, Rayan Kolli went close for Rangers when his long-range strike was pushed onto the bar by Spurs keeper Brandon Austin, and Michael Frey had a goal disallowed for offside.
Lyndon Dykes, who missed Euro 2024 and QPR’s recent pre-season trip to Spain because of an ankle injury, returned to action when he replaced Frey up front midway through the second half.
The Scotland striker quickly had a chance to equalise but nudged the ball wide from close range while stretching to connect with Lucas Andersen’s low cross.
QPR: Nardi; Dunne (Cannon 71), Cook (Morrison 66), Clarke-Salter (Fox 66), Paal (Larkeche 66); Colback (Tuck 71), Dixon-Bonner (Talla 71); Smyth (Lloyd 71), Andersen (Bennie 71), Kolli (Santos 45), Frey (Dykes 66).

Kolli looked a decent player to me, should cause defenders a few problems next season – if selected.

I was quite impressed with the general play and team shape uverall – especially for a pre-season game, and yes Nardi in particular deserves praise – some great saves and excellent distribution. Clearly, the work it out from the back needs more time and was a liability at times – But, that being said, was against a strong Spurs team (1st half at least) that are very much on the front foot and pressing high. Cook was unbelievable – Dunne also, Smyth was exciting but also showed a defensive side that clearly Marti has implemented. Dixon-Bonner continued from his impressive end of last season displays. Frey looks a decent old style centre forward that can hold up the ball. TBH I thought everyone played well – and notable too Kolli and in particular, youngster Lloyd – he’s one to watch in the future. Overall I’m very much encouraged – and what a fantastic turn out by the fans today – looked sold out.
