QPR confirm Ward’s arrival as goalkeeping coach
QPR have confirmed the appointment of Gavin Ward as their new goalkeeping coach.
Ward, who played for Cardiff, Bolton, Leicester and Stoke, joins from Burton Albion, where he had been goalkeeping coach under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
R’s boss Hasselbaink told the club’s website: “His enthusiasm and drive is very important, as well as his skill at being able to make goalkeepers better.”
Ward, 45, has also coached at Chester, Shrewsbury and Nottingham Forest and was assistant manager at non-League Gainsborough Trinity.
He played for 14 clubs during his 21 years as a professional, including 17 appearances in the Premier League while at Leicester and Bolton in the mid-1990s. He also helped Stoke win the Football League Trophy in 2000.
